Having worked in the building and surveying industry for almost a decade Cory Ashby joined Easton Bevins as Senior Quantity Surveyor in early 2024.
He previously worked as senior quantity surveyor and commercial manager at a property services company specialising in large refurbishment projects for Local Authorities, social housing and education organisations. Work included kitchen and bathroom refurbishments, as well as external wall insulation, reroofing and fire compartmentation. It was the fire-prevention works, especially relating to cladding, that most interested Cory and he decided to join Easton Bevins for the opportunity to work on more, bigger projects of this kind.
Cory’s role at Easton Bevins extends beyond that of an onsite quantity surveyor. He is also involved in estimating, procurement, and project management, which he feels gives him greater control of a project from start to finish and helps to support efficient contract delivery.
His first project with Easton Bevins was an internal fire compartmentation project worth £2.5 million pounds. This included six low rise blocks made up of 168 apartments, all of which required fire safety improvement works. Cory has also been involved with a project which included planning for and recladding Brindley House, one of Birmingham’s tallest residential tower blocks. Cory says he gets a real sense of achievement working on these large fire-safety projects.
