Wessex Ladies Rugby officials rise to the top – officiating at major national and world cup matches.
For the last three seasons, Easton Bevins has proudly sponsored the Wessex Ladies Rugby Referee Federation – supporting not only from the sidelines of a sport many of our team love, but also being the main kit sponsor.
From day one, the federation has shown great commitment, raising standards in officiating and bringing quality and consistency at a local level to a sport growing in popularity nationally and globally.
This year, their efforts and standards were recognised and rewarded. The federation was invited to officiate several high-profile matches, including a national semi-final between Devon and Hampshire, with the Wessex Ladies providing the full team of match officials.
To see those efforts recognised, and to be entrusted with responsibility at the very highest level of the game, deserves the greatest respect. Congratulations not only to Lucy and Lindsay, but the entire team. Easton Bevins is proud to be your sponsor and have our name on your shirts.”
Further recognition came when two members of the team, Lucy Smith and Lindsay Evans, were invited to officiate at the Women’s Rugby World Cup, held in England. Lucy was appointed to four games – New Zealand vs Japan, France vs Brazil, Wales vs Fuji, and Canada vs Wales – while Lindsay was appointed to two – France vs Italy and USA vs Australia.
The Wessex Ladies will continue to officiate nationally in the upcoming 25/26 season.
Ben Hayler, Easton Bevins Associate Director, commented: “Reaching these heights is an outstanding achievement. Building community, improving standards, encouraging others – all such admirable qualities. To see those efforts recognised, and to be entrusted with responsibility at the very highest level of the game, deserves the greatest respect. Congratulations not only to Lucy and Lindsay, but the entire team. Easton Bevins is proud to be your sponsor and have our name on your shirts.”
